Disclaimer: As usual, we own nothing, except for ourselves. And we especially don't own Marina.
“Stupid mini…” Rowyn grumbled as she perched precariously on the edge of her desk, trying to reach the mini-balrog at the top of her bookcase. “C’mon, Faramin, just give it back!” She nearly lost her balance as the door opened and Lothy came in, followed by a small dragon.
“What on earth are you doing?” Lothy asked, a little concerned. Rowyn seemed to be back to her usual self after the Bleeprin incident, but you could never be too careful…
“I think working in the PotC-Sue department is rubbing off on Faramin. The lousy balrog stole my book! Right out of my hands!” Rowyn groaned, finally managing to snatch her well-worn copy of Treasure Island back from the mini and glaring at the singed edges as she hopped off the desk. Then she noticed the dragon. “What’s Pensive doing here, anyway? I thought you were taking the mini-dragons to OFUN.”
“I was,” Lothy answered sheepishly. “But I got a little attached to this one, so I made a couple of phone calls…he’s staying with us.”
“Oh, good. Maybe having some company will help keep Faramin out of trouble while we’re gone,” Rowyn said with a grin. “And by the way, a new assignment came while you were out—the info’s up on the screen. And don’t even think about killing the ‘Sue—this one’s mine.”
Lothy sat down at her console and skimmed over the text. “Ah, Pirates again,” she said, then murmured, “Mmm-hmm….mmm-hmm…what the bloody heck??”
“Exactly. Better bring the Bleepuvor, I think we’ll need it. So whenever you’re ready…what do mini-dragons eat, anyway?” Rowyn asked, looking at Pensive.
“Bacon’s always a good guess. You want to feed the minis while I get my stuff?” Lothy asked. Rowyn nodded her assent, and a few minutes later, she opened the portal and they stepped through.
My heart felt it would burst out of my chest as I ran. The Redcoats where closing in on me, and I heard Norrington yelling "STOP HER!" I turned into an alley…and promptly ran into someone. "I've got her, Commodore!" my captor called as I felt irons clamped onto my wrists.
"Ah, here you are, darling." His voice drawled, sarcasm dripping from his every word." I let out a long string of curse words that no one of my class should know, and enjoyed watching his eyes grow in shock at what I'd called him. "Take her to the cells!" he spat, and started to storm away, but after about two steps, he turned on his heel and marched back.
Rowyn was already scribbling in her notebook while Lothy fumbled with the CAD. “Norrington’s OOC by about 99%… now there’s a shocker,” she announced.
As the Commodore smacked the as-of-yet nameless Sue across the face, Rowyn’s eyes narrowed. “Turning Norrington into an abusive pig,” she muttered as she wrote. “Ok, I think we’ve got enough. Let’s kill her.”
Lothy laughed as they followed the guards through the streets. “I wish… that would be much too easy though.”
The guards unceremoniously tossed the ‘Sue into a cell, which just happened to also be holding Jack.
"Enough questions, luv! I can only answer one at a time." He interrupted in his husky voice. "1st, me name is Captain Jack Sparrow. 2nd, I think this be ME cell, as I was in here first. But please, darling, by all means, if ye can get me out of here, I'll be more than happy to hand it over to ye. Does that answer all of yer bloody questions?" "You—YOUR Captain Jack SPARROW?!" she asked incredulously.
Lothy winced. “Hasn’t she ever heard of making a new paragraph to distinguish a new speaker? Or staying with one tense?”
“It never fails to amaze me how these characters can speak in such a way that you can hear the numbers,” Rowyn said, letting her forehead fall against the wall as she continued looking at the words. “Oh great…she’s Elizabeth’s bloody twin.”
Both agents winced as the point-of-view shifted suddenly from the ‘Sue to Jack, long enough for Jack to realize that he was in love with the ‘Sue, then back to the girl, who soon revealed her name as Marina.
“Ok… first of all, Norrington is not the type of man to jump from Elizabeth to her sister. Secondly, if Governor Swann allowed Elizabeth to make her own decision about who to marry, he would not deny another daughter the same opportunity,” Rowyn said as she wrote. Her head jerked up as Jack proceeded to tear his shirt into shreds to make a sling for the ‘Sue.
"Tell me somethin'" he said just as softly. "Do ye believe in love at first sight?"
"Yes…Yes I do. Why do you ask?" I answered.
"Because," he said, scooting closer to me so that our faces almost touched. "So do I."
“Thirdly,” Rowyn continued as the two began making out, “No self-respecting woman would fall for that sort of line, and Jack wouldn’t say that about any woman! The Pearl, maybe, but not a woman!”
Lothy sighed as Marina pulled the keys to the cell out of her pocket and the two headed back to the Pearl. “We’re not dealing with self-respecting women, Rowyn.”
“I know…but one can dream, right?”
"To dream, and perchance to sleep…¦"
"Sleep’s not very likely, if we want to kill her before-I’M GONNA KILL HER!"
Lothy looked up and glanced at the words, then wished she hadn’t. Evil!Elizabeth, Evil!Governor Swann, Angsty!Sue and OC Jack in the space of six paragraphs.
Slipping into the cabin behind Governor Swann, Rowyn aimed her CAD at Jack, being careful to mute it first. It beeped frantically and turned red. "Captain Jack Sparrow. Male. Canon. OC 87.99999999999%."
Lothy had wrapped her own CAD in a old sock before aiming it at Elizabeth. The poor device wailed audibly and spat a stream of gibberish before resolving into anything legible. "CHARACTER REPLACEMENT! EVIL!ELIZABETH!"
Lothy swore and accidentally aimed the CAD at the ‘Sue.
"Marinajackfrenchbabiestannednsyncbadabandonment!" streamed through the CAD’s screen before it beeped once and promptly died.
"Great," Lothy muttered. "Makes-Things is gonna kill me...Rowyn?"
Lothy reached out and grabbed Rowyn by her shirttails before the agent could reach Marina.
"He married her in Tortuga!" Rowyn hissed. "And wrote a poem to her!"
"Here," Lothy said, handing her partner a flask of Bleepuvor, the charge list, and a pen. "Write."
Rowyn scribbled frantically for the next few seconds, before the space/time continuum wrenched and they were flung two months ahead.
Then, one morning I got a rude awakening. My stomach lurched, and I ran to the side of the ship, barely making it. After I had fed the fish, I leaned against the side. This could not be happening, not now. I'd missed my period twice, and now I was throwing up? What was Jack going to say?
Speak of the Devil, there was Jack suddenly standing beside me. "Ye O.K, luv?" he asked, gathering my hair away from my face as I heaved again. "I'm fine." I lied, and then after I'd thrown up again, I said "No, no I'm not O.K. Can we talk?"
"Sure, luv." He said, sitting beside me, and leaning against the rail.
"Jack, do you want to have children?" I asked cautiously, as we'd never discussed the idea before.
"Um...Rowyn?" Lothy asked quickly. "Did you bring any dried peaches? I’m out."
"Yeah...I think so," Rowyn said, pulling her satchel off her shoulder and digging through it. A moment later she produced them and handed them to Lothy.
"Rowyn?"
"Yeah?"
"Please don’t turn around."
Rowyn looked at her partner suspiciously. "Why not?"
"Because if you kill her now, SO is going to kill us. Or at least hurt us very very very very badly. And I don’t think I’m strong enough to hold you back this time."
Rowyn grimaced. "Fine." Pulling out her Discman, she turned on May It Be very loudly and sat down to read a book.
Lothy sighed and followed Jack and Marina to AnaMaria’s’ cabin.
As she continued reading through Treasure Island, Rowyn’s attention was soon fully absorbed by the classic tale of piracy, and so she jumped a little when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She pulled off the headphones and turned to see Lothy scowling in the direction of the cabin. “Hey, did you know the ‘Sue named herself after a yacht dock?” Rowyn asked with a grin in an attempt to lighten her partner’s move. When it didn’t work, she added, “What happened?”
“Long story short: Dock-Sue’s pregnant. Jack hit her. She’s leaving. We’re portaling,” Lothy summarized, then stepped back as Rowyn’s dark eyes narrowed dangerously.
“Jack hit her?”
“Aye.”
Rowyn quickly wrote in her notebook before pulling out the portalling device and switching it on. “Where to?”
Lothy skimmed the words. “Well, let’s see… we could skip to the Governor’s house where her family welcomes her back with open arms even though they hated her before and she’s suddenly obviously pregnant, the party the same night where she dances with Jack and doesn’t even realize it’s her own husband she’s dancing with, or immediately following where she’s in labor while Jack’s getting drunk in the tavern.”
Rowyn winced. “Ugh… how about none of the above?” At Lothy’s look, she grumbled, “Fine. I’d rather watch Drunk!Jack than AngstyPregnant!Sue.” With that, she opened the portal.
